King County Administration Building
With a controversial aesthetic and numerous updates required to its infrastructure, King County’s 1950s-era Administration Building appears an unlikely candidate for rehabilitation. Our report was prepared for the purpose of providing an alternative view; developing the potential inherent in the building and achieving benefits for the County and the City of Seattle that are environmentally and fiscally smart and societally positive. The study shows how redesign and re-engineering this building is less expensive both in initial and life-cycle cost analysis compared to demolition and new construction of similar quality.
