Addressing the pressing need for additional classroom space, our recent collaboration with the University of Washington Chemistry Department resulted in flexible auditorium and laboratory space in Bagley Hall.
Working on a compressed schedule, we began by developing different conceptual options to balance operational flexibility, student safety and facility durability with budget and schedule constraints. The resulting lab and lecture hall incorporate innovative lighting and technology to create a fresh learning environment. The continuously occupied 1930s building required construction be completed without impacting ongoing university programs.
We can’t guarantee the new classrooms will make chemistry any easier, but they should – at the very least – sweeten the undertaking.
